Trauma Therapy

Trauma embodies profound suffering. It is an experience that thrusts you into a state of fear and terror, whether it’s for yourself or someone close to you. Its aftermath leaves you feeling helpless, hopeless, and stripped of any sense of control. Trauma has the power to cause you to doubt in your own worth, and reshape your perception of both yourself and the world. Its impact permeates your sleep, unleashes an overwhelming flood of uncontrollable emotions, and instills a pervasive feeling of being at the mercy of unseen forces. As a coping mechanism, trauma often propels you towards avoidance, leading you to aviud the people, places, and activities that once brought you joy, all in a desperate bid to evade the clutches of fear. It can even plunge you into emotional numbness or detachment, severing your connection with your own emotions and bodily sensations. It’s important to remember that trauma reactions are a natural response to an extraordinarily abnormal situation. It’s not your fault.

Trauma Therapy

Symptoms of trauma are caused by what has happened to you and are not a sign that there is something wrong with you or that you are broken. They are a normal response to an abnormal and overwhelming experience, either physical or emotional. The key is to learn how to cope with these natural survival skills in a way that helps you reclaim your life.

Emotional, Physical, and Sexual Abuse

Abuse, whether emotional or physical, can happen in relationship we have in life. It can happen in your partnerships, with your parents, siblings, friendships, work dynamics, or even with your children. Approximately one out of every four women experience abuse within their partnerships, while about one in ten men experiencing it. These numbers, however, only reflect reported cases, implying that countless individuals suffer silently. We all know someone who endures abuse. Abuse leaves victims feeling isolated, burdened by shame, and trapped in a seemingly insurmountable struggles to make it stop.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) is a skills-based approach rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and developed by Marsha Linehan, PhD. The core premise of this theory is that certain individuals possess heightened emotional sensitivity due to various factors beyond their control. Consequently, these individuals may experience intense emotional arousal and reactivity, taking a longer time to return to an emotionally regulated state. Such emotional reactivity can result in significant emotional fluctuations and a feeling of being overwhelmed by emotions.
